The Lajoie family is going through some change, and when I heard about their timely situation, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to share with them a session I had been thinking about for a while. The “Day in the Life of” session.
Dave (the father) has terminal cancer.
When Carol initially contacted me, she was looking to have some family photos done. A simple session for an hour or so, you know, the usual. I called her back after setting up a session time and said “no, that’s not good enough”…here’s what I can do for you.
Carol agreed that the Day in the Life of session sounded like it would fit their family just fine, so that’s what we did.
I spent three and a half hours with this wonderful family in their home and around their neighbourhood. We had waffles (yum, and thank you again), played with toys, made some lego Starwars figure things (I’m sure I’ve offended any Starwars fan that just read that - I’m sorry), read a book, and played outside.
The most special moments were those that the kids got to share with their father, one on one, and the response it brought to Carol and Dave. You can see in their expression they know how precious and important this time is.
This family is warm and welcoming and I couldn’t have been more privileged to spend this time with them and have a glimpse into the wonderful life they share together.
Thank you, Carol, Dave, and the kids for opening your minds and hearts to me during this session. I hope these photos will forever be a memory of the joy you share as a family and the love you all have for one another.
Lots of Love
